Msemen, hearty buffets or healthy brunch in Guéliz: here are my favourite breakfast spots in Marrakech, sorted by vibe so you always find the right fit.
The traditional Moroccan breakfast — generous and indulgent
Breakfast is something we often overlook when travelling, and that's a mistake: in Marrakech, it's a genuine pleasure — generous trays of msemen and harcha, hearty buffets or healthy brunches in the Guéliz style. Here are my picks, sorted by vibe, so you always find the right fit for your morning mood.
GM Café Gourmet (Hivernage)
A generous, carefully put-together tray: msemen, harcha, honey, olive oil, homemade jams, served with a coffee or fresh juice. The setting is elegant and cosy, and the service is wonderfully attentive. Expect around 100–110 Dhs (€10–11) per person.
Café des Négociants (Guéliz)
The oldest café in Guéliz, open since 1936, on the iconic corner of Avenue Mohammed V and Boulevard Zerktouni. A place steeped in history, with a terrace that's always lively. Come here for a nos-nos and, in my opinion, the best harcha in the neighbourhood.

The accessible hotel buffet
Pensée – Café & Restaurant (Stars Hotel & Spa, Guéliz)
A generous and varied buffet (fresh omelettes, pastries, fruit, cheese) for around €7 (70 Dhs) per person. A warm atmosphere, sometimes enlivened by live Andalusian music. At the weekend, an all-you-can-eat buffet is on offer. An excellent option for a hearty breakfast without breaking the bank.
The modern, healthy brunch
Lunera
A café with a clean, minimalist décor where presentation matters as much as taste: carefully crafted eggs Benedict, fresh juices, beautiful compositions. An address that's very popular for its calm, elegant atmosphere.
Café Carmel
Just behind Jardin Majorelle, this recently renovated café offers excellent value for money, with a real family breakfast option. A great stop before or after visiting the gardens.

The French-style bakeries
For those craving a proper croissant or a fresh pain au chocolat, two addresses deliver: Gontran Cherrier, the Parisian name known for its bread and pastries, and L'Atelier Boulangerie, for a classic full breakfast (eggs, salad, pastries, fresh juice) in a bright setting.
Mon Quotidien, the multi-neighbourhood address
My personal favourite is Mon Quotidien at the Palmeraie, set in the garden of Palmeraie Green Resort — a lush, green setting that's particularly lovely in the morning. The house is also well known for its Moroccan pastries (gazelle horns, honey briouates, makrouts, ghribas). Breakfast menus range from 40 to 90 Dhs depending on what you fancy. You'll also find it in Guéliz, Targa and Massira if the Palmeraie isn't on your route.
The 100% women-only breakfast
For a morning designed entirely for you, there's La Secret Beach, Marrakech's 100% women-only pool, open every day from 10:30 am. Three breakfast menus are on offer, from the traditional Moroccan version to avocado toast, before heading into a full pool day. I go into more detail in a dedicated article about women-only days out in Marrakech.
For breakfast in nature, with the kids
A slightly different pick, but one that earns its place: Secret Family Farm, about 30 minutes from Marrakech. Once you've paid the entrance fee, the children can feed the farm animals (goats, rabbits, hens…) while you enjoy breakfast on site, in a green and peaceful setting.
The menu offers the same three options as its sister venue La Secret Beach:
- Petit Déjeuner Marrakech (70 Dhs) — mint tea or orange juice, tchoutchouka, olives, olive oil, honey, beghrir, msemen, homemade bread
- Le Petit Paris (90 Dhs) — coffee or tea, detox juice, avocado toast with poached egg, toast, butter, jam
- Le Matin Secret (90 Dhs) — coffee or tea, pancakes or crêpes, egg muffin, orange or detox juice (+10 Dhs to add cheese to the omelette)
A lovely option for combining breakfast and a nature moment with the kids, at your own pace.
