A one-of-a-kind table in a Médina palace, a menu that changes every month, live music and candlelight. This dinner gets my highest recommendation, without hesitation.
When the Médina sets the table
Some evenings in Marrakech stay with you for weeks afterwards. Not because they were spectacular in a Hollywood sense, but because they touch something deeper. The Museum Banquet du Palais Dar Zniber is exactly that kind of evening. Every Friday at 7:30 pm, the Moroccan Culinary Art Museum in the Médina of Marrakech opens its doors for an exceptional banquet, centred around a unique shared table and a menu that changes every month. Whenever someone asks me where to take a person they really want to impress, this is the first place that comes to mind.
One table, a different story every season
What I particularly love about this concept is that it is never quite the same twice. Each month, a culinary secret or a region of Morocco is celebrated. The menu is renewed accordingly — you can view it as a PDF directly on the booking page before you arrive. This is not a classic restaurant where you choose a dish from a menu: here, you let yourself be guided. The storytelling around Moroccan gastronomy is an integral part of the experience. You are not simply eating — you are learning, listening, travelling from one region to another without ever leaving Marrakech.
The table is shared — the room can seat up to 26 people — but the atmosphere remains intimate thanks to the carefully arranged floral decoration and the candlelit setting. For a dinner for two, it is precisely this blend of conviviality and elegance that makes it something truly special.

A setting that elevates the meal
The evening begins with a welcome cocktail — a wonderful way to set the pace, unwind from the day and ease into the atmosphere. Then comes the live music. In Marrakech, music is not something you announce; it is something you live. Here, it accompanies the meal without overwhelming it — it belongs to the setting just as much as the candles and the flowers. It is subtle, it is just right, and it makes all the difference.
Still and sparkling water are included throughout the meal. Should you wish for other drinks, they are available to order and settled on the spot — outside beverages are not permitted within the palace.

What you need to know before booking
The Museum Banquet takes place only once a week, on Friday evenings. Spaces are limited and booking is required — I would recommend reserving early, especially in high season. The price is €52 per person, outside of the year-end holiday period (for that period, please enquire directly before confirming). Children from the age of 5 are welcome, at a rate of €26 (50% of the adult price) up to age 12; from age 13, the adult rate applies.
Full payment is required upon confirmation. For any change to the number of guests, please note that the final headcount must be communicated at least 15 days before the event. If the number decreases within 15 days of the event, the original amount remains due. Cancellation conditions are as follows: 50% charged from 30 days before, 80% from 10 days before, and 100% from 3 days before.
Transport is not included, but it can be arranged as an optional add-on upon request via WhatsApp — a quote will be provided based on your accommodation location.

My honest take on this experience
I recommend the Museum Banquet du Palais Dar Zniber to anyone who wants to experience Marrakech beyond the tourist trail. This is not just another dinner in a riad: it is a full immersion into Moroccan gastronomy, told with passion, in a setting that does real honour to the Médina. For a romantic evening, a birthday or simply giving someone an unforgettable experience, it is one of the finest addresses I know in this city.
