How I prepare for a quad bike ride in the Palmeraie

Why the Palmeraie is the perfect place to start quad biking

When visitors ask me for an activity that truly stands out without requiring any prior experience, I immediately think of quad biking in the Palmeraie. No tarmac roads, no traffic — just sandy tracks, shaded paths winding between the palm trees and the warm Marrakech air. It's accessible, transporting and genuinely thrilling, even for those who have never ridden a quad bike in their lives.

The experience I recommend is the Quad Palmeraie Marrakech – Aventure 2H: two hours in the heart of the Palmeraie de Marrakech, with a guide, all equipment provided, and even a mint tea break at a local home. That little moment of warmth in the middle of the ride is often what people remember most.

What you receive from the start

I always want to reassure anyone worried about what to bring equipment-wise: everything essential is included. On arrival, you'll be given your quad — available in a 1- or 2-seater version depending on the option you choose — along with a helmet and basic equipment. A guide takes charge of your group from the very beginning and supervises the outing throughout. Return transfers from your accommodation in Marrakech are also included (depending on zone).

A briefing is included: before setting off, the guide takes the time to explain how to handle the quad and go through the safety instructions. It's brief, clear, and really puts first-timers at ease.

What I recommend bringing

The Palmeraie is beautiful — but it's also sandy. Here's what I always suggest to my groups before heading out:

• Closed-toe shoes are a must — sandals and flip-flops are best left back at the hotel.
• Long trousers — to protect your legs from dust and sun.
• Sunglasses — essential on the tracks.
• Water — bring a bottle, the ride lasts 2 hours and it gets hot.
• Comfortable clothing — avoid anything you're particularly attached to keeping spotless!

And make sure to arrive with a little enthusiasm in reserve — the Palmeraie will take care of the rest.

Who can take part?

The rider must be at least 14 years old. Children under 14 can still take part as passengers, subject to the rules in place on the day of the outing. It's therefore an activity that can work well for a family outing, with friends, or even as a group — as long as you check availability in advance.

If there are several adults and you each want to ride your own quad, that's entirely possible. If you'd rather ride together on a single machine, the 2-seater option is there for exactly that.

The tea break: the moment everyone remembers

At the halfway point, your guide takes you to stop at a local home. You set down your helmet, get settled and savour a mint tea. That quiet moment in the middle of the outing is what transforms a simple quad ride into a genuine encounter with local life. I've seen it win over even the most seasoned members of the groups I take out.

How to book without any surprises

The golden rule is to plan ahead. Bookings must be made at least 3 days before your chosen date to confirm availability. A deposit per person is payable online via a secure payment link, and the balance is settled in cash on the day.

Cancellation is free up to 3 days before the outing. After that, the deposit is non-refundable — and no cancellation or refund is possible for a booking made on the same day or less than 3 days in advance. So if you have any uncertainty about your plans, it's best to book early and cancel in time if needed.
