A hands-on farm in Marrakech with animals to feed and creative workshops for children — my favourite family find in the city.
A green escape that changes everything
When families ask me what they can do in Marrakech with young children, I now have one clear answer: Secret Family Farm Marrakech Ferme Pédagogique et Ateliers Créatifs, Route d'Agadir. It's the kind of place I wish I had discovered much sooner. The moment you step through the gate, the children shift gear. They slow down, they look, they wonder — and honestly, so do the parents.
Admission to the farm includes a basket of food to go and meet the animals. Rabbits, hens, baby goats, ducks, tortoises, a calf, a baby dromedary… The whole place is designed so that every child can truly interact with the animals, not just watch from behind a fence. I've seen four-year-olds nervously stretch out their hand towards a rabbit and walk away with stars in their eyes.
Feeding the animals: the moment children remember
The feeding session is the heart of the experience. Basket in hand, the children distribute food to the animals themselves. This direct, supervised and caring contact teaches them something that school textbooks simply can't convey in the same way: respect for living beings, gentleness, patience.
The outdoor play area rounds off the visit nicely — perfect for older children to burn off energy while the little ones recover from all their excitement. Worth knowing: children under 2 enter the farm free of charge (workshops not included). And in summer, I strongly recommend coming in the morning or late afternoon to avoid the peak heat.

The creative workshops: the little extra that makes all the difference
The creative workshops are not included in the basic admission, but they are available à la carte. And honestly, it would be a shame to miss them. The ceramics workshop is my favourite: children shape their creation in the morning, then come back to paint it in the afternoon or at the end of the day — a lovely structure for pacing out the day. The other workshops are quicker and can slot in at any point during the visit.
If you would like supervised support during the workshops, this can be arranged on request from age 5, at an extra cost. An option I particularly appreciate for groups, or when parents want a moment to breathe.
One useful detail: if you wish to access the workshops without farm admission, a supplement of €5 / 50 MAD per person (for supervision) applies.

What you need to know before you visit
An accompanying adult must be present throughout the visit — which, as a family, goes without saying. Outside food and drinks are not permitted on site, but there is food and drink available to order on site.
Remember to book at least 2 days in advance — it's essential. Payment is made on site, and cancellation is free up to 1 day before, via WhatsApp. A straightforward system that I really appreciate.
To sum up: if you're looking for an activity that steps off the usual tourist circuit, that delights children and parents alike, and that leaves genuinely lasting memories, Secret Family Farm Marrakech Ferme Pédagogique et Ateliers Créatifs is exactly what you need. It's one of my favourite family recommendations, without hesitation.
