A dinner show in a historic palace in Marrakech — this is what I recommend to every visitor in December. My honest take on Dar Soukkar.
December in Marrakech, the month I love most
People often ask me: "Céline, is it worth coming to Marrakech in December?" My answer is always the same — and it's an enthusiastic one. The city in winter has something special about it: the alleyways are quieter, the late-afternoon light turns golden, and the cool evenings invite you to live fully in the moment. It was in exactly that spirit that I discovered a place that has since sat at the very top of my recommendations: Dar Soukkar Dîner spectacle dans un Palais historique.
A palace, a stage, a promise kept
When I first heard about Dar Soukkar, I'll admit I was curious but cautious. A dinner show in a palace can range from magnificent to disappointing depending on the venue. Here, I was won over from the moment I arrived. The setting is sumptuous — as only a Moroccan palace can be — with its zelliges, its moucharabiehs and its soft lighting that creates an atmosphere at once festive and enveloping.
The evening begins at 9:30 pm: the oriental show gets under way and runs through to 12:30 am. Then the DJ takes over until the end of the night. It's generous, it's alive, it's Marrakech in all its nocturnal splendour.

Dinner: two worlds to choose from
What I particularly appreciate about Dar Soukkar is the freedom given to guests when it comes to the menu. You choose according to your mood — or your appetite — between a World Cuisine option and an Oriental Cuisine option. In both cases, seating and table service are included. Drinks are settled directly on site based on your consumption — something to factor into your evening budget.
A little foodie detail I always enjoy mentioning: it's possible to add a plate of seasonal fruit as a supplement (150 Dh). A light, fresh touch to end the evening gently.

My practical tips before you book
Having accompanied many groups and solo travellers through this experience, here is what I always recommend:
- Book at least 5 days in advance. A deposit of €10 per person is payable on Just Marrakech at the time of booking; the balance (meal and drinks) is paid directly on site, by card or in cash.
- Dress the part. A dress code is in place: smart attire is required. Sportswear, shorts and flip-flops are not accepted. It's an evening in a palace — dress accordingly, and you won't regret it!
- Coming with very young children? The minimum age is 6. And on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays, children under 6 are not admitted to the show. If you have very little ones, opt for a weeknight instead, Monday through Thursday.
- Plan your transport. Dar Soukkar is located on Route de l'Ourika, about 10 minutes by car from Jemaa el-Fna. Transport is not included in the price, but it can be arranged on request — remember to mention it when you book.

Who do I recommend this evening for?
For everyone, sincerely. Couples on a romantic getaway will find the atmosphere enchanting. Groups of friends leave with unforgettable memories. Families with school-age children enjoy an evening that blends cultural discovery with celebration. And first-time visitors to Marrakech discover in a single night what the city has to offer at its most generous: hospitality, music, gastronomy and the beauty of Moroccan architecture.
In December, when night falls early and the desire for human warmth is strong, Dar Soukkar answers all of that with brilliance. It's one of those evenings you're still talking about long after you've returned home.
