Buggy in the Palmeraie with my kids: my honest review

Open to children from age 6, the buggy ride in Marrakech's Palmeraie is the perfect family adventure. My on-the-ground review of the Buggy 2H experience.

Why I chose the buggy for a family day out

When families ask me for an activity that gets the kids' eyes lighting up and suits the parents too, I immediately think of the buggy in the Palmeraie. It's not an artificial attraction or a cookie-cutter circuit for visitors in a hurry. It's a genuine ride through a lush green landscape, aboard a vehicle that brings an instant smile to everyone's face — young and old alike.

What I particularly love about the Buggy Palmeraie Marrakech 2H is that the experience is designed to be accessible. No need to be a seasoned driver — the safety briefing is thorough, protective gear is provided, and an experienced guide stays with the group throughout the entire route. I'm always reassured knowing that families are looked after from start to finish.

From what age can you go on the buggy?

This is almost always the first question parents ask me. The good news: children aged 6 and over can ride as passengers. To drive, you need to be at least 16. Each buggy fits 1 or 2 people, which means a parent can take the wheel with their child right beside them — a shared moment that will stay with them for years to come.

I always make a point of sharing one practical tip: make sure everyone wears closed-toe shoes, bring sunglasses, and dress comfortably. The tracks through the Palmeraie can be dusty and breezy — that's exactly what makes the ride so alive, but it's worth being well prepared.

If your family also enjoys thrills outside the city, I'd recommend our Buggy dans le Désert d'Agafay for an even wilder, more mineral landscape.

What's included — and what I love most

The experience includes the buggy, the guide, the briefing and the protective equipment. But what truly makes the difference for me is the return transfer from your hotel or riad — no logistical stress for families — and above all the mint tea break at a local home.

That break is an unexpectedly gentle moment right in the heart of the adventure. Children discover Moroccan hospitality in an authentic setting, away from the tourist bustle. For me, it's the kind of memory you're still talking about years later.

As an optional add-on, it's possible to include a dromedary ride — the kids absolutely love it, and let's be honest, so do the parents.

How to book: what you need to know

To avoid any disappointment, here is the practical information I always share with the families I work with:

  • Book at least 3 days in advance of your chosen date — this is an essential requirement.
  • A deposit of €35 per buggy is required at the time of booking, via a secure payment link.
  • The remaining balance is settled in cash, on site, on the day of the activity.
  • Free cancellation up to 3 days before the date. After that, the deposit cannot be refunded, and no cancellation is possible on the day itself.

I always recommend booking as soon as your itinerary is confirmed.

My guide's tip for making the most of it

Go with the mindset of a real adventure, not a timed excursion. Marrakech's Palmeraie is a living space, with its dirt paths, its gardens, its unexpected moments of calm. Let the children look around, ask questions, wonder. And if your family wants to carry the magic into the rest of the day, the Secret Family Farm is a wonderful way to round things off with creative workshops and a farm immersion.

The buggy in the Palmeraie is two hours that feel like a childhood memory in the making. Exactly what a family visiting Marrakech deserves to experience.
